FALL IS IN THE AIR!! DECORATING CONTEST AND BLOCK PARTIES!

Once again we will have our Annual Fall/Halloween decorating contest. We will award 2 yards the honor “Fall Yard of the Year and Halloween Yard Of the Year”. Use your imagination and go wild with it: “SPOOKY” OR “ALL THINGS AUTUMN”. Winners will receive a gift card AND bragging rights. Judging will take place the last week of October so you have plenty of time to participate.

IN MUCH BIGGER NEWS, our next Social Committee event will be held Sunday, October 22 from 4-6 pm and will be our

Annual Stonewood Block Party!!

The location again this year will be on Trailwood Dr. We would love for you and your families to join us! This is a great opportunity to meet neighbors, eat dinner, and have FUN!
This year, we are taking advantage of the Fall season and incorporating a CHILI COOK-OFF 🥣 and a PUMPKIN CARVING & DECORATING CONTEST 🎃. Be on the lookout for more details coming out on these!
We will also have yard games set up, a bouncy house, and we are working with our local Fire Dept to try to get a truck 🚒 here.
For dinner, the Social Committee will provide hot dogs/buns/condiments 🌭, drinks, and all paper products needed. This will go along perfectly with the Chili Cook-Off. We just need neighbors to sign up below to bring sides, desserts, and chili toppings.
What we need from you?
1️⃣ RSVP by Sunday, October 8 so we can best plan for this event!
2️⃣ Sign up to bring a side, dessert, or chili topping at https://m.signupgenius.com/… (Sign up by Wednesday, Oct 18)

BURN REQUIREMENTS FOR RUTHERFORD COUNTY

CURRENT DEBRIS BURN PERMIT STATUS: A BURN PERMIT IS REQUIRED FROM THE STATE.

Burn permits are required from the Tennessee Division of Forestry from October 15, 2023 to May 15, 2024
for debris piles. There is also a BURN BAN currently in place and the state has stated that due to the dryness and lack of rain, they currently will NOT be issuing any burn permits. This DOES affect the Stonewood Community and we are asking that all residents abide by this order. If you would like more info please visit this site or feel free to call Rutherford County Fire and Rescue and they can give you the most up to date information, 615-869-2520.

The following tips should be followed when it is safe to conduct a debris burn:

  • Check with local authorities to make sure there are no local restrictions on burning currently in place, especially in cities and towns that have their own burning permit system.
  • GET A PERMIT. A permit is required from the Tennessee Division of Forestry between October 15 to May 15 where local restrictions do not supercede.
  • Notify your local fire department and neighbors to let them know your plans to burn
  • Do not burn on windy days
  • Stay abreast of changing weather conditions
  • Establish wide control lines down to bare mineral soil at least five feet wide around burn piles
  • Keep fire containment equipment on hand during the fire (e.g. rake, shovel, water)
  • Stay with the fire until it is completely out.

STONEWOOD PETS ANNOUNCEMENT

We love our furry friends in Stonewood. After all, they are part of the family! However, as responsible pet owners, we must all be mindful that not every Stonewood neighbor loves Fido or Mittens roaming free, barking at all hours of the day and night and no one ever, ever wants poop in their nicely manicured lawn or flower bed. So, please remember these simple rules for your fur babies:
  • All pets should be on a leash or in a fenced yard when outside. See TN leash law below.
  • Pets should NEVER be allowed to roam free in the neighborhood. This creates an unsafe environment for all of us. Pets included. Even pets that are known to have a pleasant demeanor can react differently when they are out of their normal surroundings. At least one Stonewood neighbor was bitten by an unleashed pet and another incident barely avoided. This is unacceptable and preventable. Each of us must take responsibility for and control of our pets to ensure the safety of our neighbors.
  • If your furry friend relieves him/herself on your neighbor’s property – PLEASE pick it up immediately and dispose of it properly. This includes dogs and cats – flower beds are not litter boxes.
  • And if your dog barks incessantly – day or night or both – please take them inside. That doggie is stressed out and needs a break and so do your neighbors.

Reference:

Tennessee State Law (TCA) 44-8-408 states: “It shall be unlawful for any person to allow an animal in the person’s custody or a dog belonging to or under the control of such person, or may be habitually found on premises occupied by that person, to go upon the premises of another or up-on a public road or street.”

Seasonal Reminders

2023 HOMEOWNERS FALL CLEANING

With the days getting shorter and the temps starting to fall there is not much time left to get your yards and landscape all squared away for the winter. Please make sure that all lawns are cut, shrubs and trees are pruned, ALL landscape beds are weed and grass free, and vines are removed from fences and houses before October 31.

Neighborhood Food Trucks
Neighborhood Food Trucks, Stonewood Subdivision Smyrna

Food trucks are driving communities closer together

The sharing of food has brought people together since the beginning of time. It’s how we make friends, nurture relationships, celebrate milestones, mend conflicts and feel gratitude for life. As you share these unique dining experiences with family, friends and even strangers, you’ll encounter much more than new flavors.

The popularities of food trucks have come a long way in just the past 2 years or so, especially in our Stonewood neighborhood. The level of diverse flavors brings us all out to experience tastes and smells we usually have to venture out to find.

Stonewood has had the pleasure of welcoming several different food trucks vendors into our community and we will continue to do so. Please help us make them feel welcomed and like family when they arrive. Support your local small businesses and get to know your neighbors at the same time.

Relationships and food go hand in hand. Watch the online calendar, as well as the Facebook page for the upcoming food truck dates.
